Stupid People That Do Stupid Things

You know what really annoys me?

Well, to be fair, a large number of things annoy me.

But a certain thing that really, really gets me annoyed is seeing either of the following two things:

a) Someone headbanging to a song that is [not Rock/Metal or some variation of these genres]
b) Someone headbanging in a Music Video that is [not Rock/Metal or some variation of these genres]

Why?

Because it is actually just wrong. I'm not criticizing all other genres, don't get me wrong.

Okay, yes, I actually hate all the mainstream stuff. Pop, Disco, Party, Dubstep, K-Pop, I hate it all. But other people love that and hate everything else, which I respect.

But I actually do like most other genres. I don't go looking for songs that are Country or Blues, for example, but I can listen to it. I can like it.

I just happen to love Metal and Rock, and all variations of them.

But seriously, I hate it when people headbanging to a different genre in a song. Because it's not meant for those songs.

And I am actually somewhat an expert on this field, so don't say I'm wrong. I know I'm not, on this one.

Pretty much all the way through the 70's, 80's and 90's, Rock was the mainstream genre. In the 60's, it wasn't as huge, but it was there and gaining awareness.
So, like, this includes all the stuff you've heard of (better have heard of). Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and later on Metallica as well.

Headbanging was created in the 1960's, and was used specifically for what was known as Rock back then. Led Zeppelin, Motörhead and Deep Purple are all original users of the headbanging technique. If I'm correct on this finer detail, Deep Purple was the first band to ever headbang, the name of the technique came from Motörhead's name (Motörheadbanging) and then Led Zeppelin bought it to fame by encouraging the crowd to 'headbang' on their 1969 tour.

Anyway, moving on.

Headbanging was meant for Rock and Metal, not Pop not songs with vocals auto-tuned and edited so much that it's beyond recognition (because they can't sing).

What happened was that headbanging was taken on by mainstream genres as well, once Rock stopped being the mainstream. And for some reason, the people these days think it's appropriate to apply this technique to their own songs, or preferences.

It's just wrong. I can't stand it.

So there you are! A rant! After a long time.

Another, one last thing.

You know how people keep saying "RESPECT" in a weird voice when someone does something 'cool' these days? School kids, I mean? Annoying school kids?

That 'respect' line, came from Pantera's famous hit 'Walk'.

"RE - SPECT, WALK."

That was where it originated.

Annoying people.
